Dolní Tošanovice lies in the Těšín region, about 10 km east of Frýdek-Místek, on the road to Český Těšín. The village is documented as early as 1305.

The Empire-style chateau dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries was converted into a villa in 1933 by doctor Vítězslav Chlumský; it is now privately owned.
