Horní Tošanovice is in the Těšínsko region. The municipality was first mentioned in 1305. The D48 motorway and the railway line from Frýdek-Místek to Cieszyn pass through the municipality.

The late Empire-style chateau was built by the Harasovský family in the 1830s. It is now a listed cultural monument and serves as a residence. The bell tower, dating from around 1850, remains fully functional, and local families look after its operation. The municipality runs the Hájenka cultural house, which has an outdoor area with a stage and dance floor.
