Pazderna lies in the Podbeskydy Hills, about 6 km east of Frýdek-Místek and 2 km from the Žermanice Reservoir.

The first written record of Pazderna dates to 1573. The village’s name and the three blue flax flowers in its coat of arms recall flax processing in local workshops. A brick chapel dedicated to St John of Nepomuk has stood in the village since 1871.
